TRUTH IN 2008 PLEDGE 7/10/2008
Here is something YOU can do to start to bring the truth about our true financial condition to the candidates.
Print out copies of our Truth in 2008 pledge and have your candidates for national office sign it.
Please send signed pledges to: IFTA - 1500 Skokie Boulevard, Suite 304, Northbrook, IL 60062 Or fax signed pledges to: 847-835-3470
The Truth in 2008 Pledge commits candidates to the following:
· Highlighting the federal government's true financial condition of more than $54 trillion, which includes our unfunded liabilities and Social Security and Medicare promises; · Provide an honest calculation of the short- and long-term costs of every campaign promise I make; · Present a realistic plan on how such promises will be paid for and; · Discuss how much further in debt such promises would put us.
I'm concerned that our economy is starting to be affected by our debts, but the masses are apathetic and don't want to hear about it.
Several organizations are trying to tell people, but they mostly reach people who are already informed.
The only alternative is a government takeover in some fashion, an "ism" - nationalism, socalism, communism, fascism, corporatism, ...
What does it take to wake up the masses and get them to act?

They will never reckon this debt. The politicians can't. If we were made to pay this debt off in a reasonable manner, it would crush our economy. Politicians won't listen, not because they don't care, but because there really is nothing that can be done. I really appreciate your website, but I feel like we are all on the Titanic, enjoying a cocktail as we sink.#error
