April 12, 2017- My work with federal budgeting and accounting began in 1992 when I started to volunteer for the Concord Coalition, a nationwide, non-partisan, grassroots organization advocating generationally responsible fiscal policy. The Concord Coalition was founded by the late former Senator Paul Tsongas (D-Mass.), late former Senator Warren Rudman (R-N.H.), and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Peter Peterson.
My most enjoyable times with Concord were organizing its interactive exercises, which brought together citizens to work through the federal budget. I was always amazed how we would put total strangers in small groups and they would enthusiastically, but civilly debate the various options and come up with a balanced budget.
This is why I am excited to announce the Concord Coalition and my Congressman, Brad Schneider, are hosting a federal budget workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17 at Lake Forest College. Space is limited due to the workshop format.
