Michigan may lose $560M in Medicaid funding
Gov. Granholm says Congress has not acted to extend payments.

 From The Detroit News:

Michigan likely will lose at least $260 million in Medicaid funding in the coming year, and possibly as much as $560 million, Gov. Jennifer Granholm said Thursday. Such a loss threatens mental health care, prescriptions and other Medicaid services that Michigan now provides but that are "optional" under the federal Medicaid program, Granholm said. Hopes have dimmed that Congress will approve an extension of higher Medicaid payments Congress approved in 2008 for states hardest hit by the economic downturn, Granholm said. The payments were funded by stimulus money and are set to expire Dec. 31. http://www.detnews.com/article/20100723/POLITICS02/7230376/1022/Michigan-may-lose-$560M-in-Medicaid-funding#ixzz0uWzXsUFs
